Lost Ark: Server Down on August 17 – What’s Happening?

The weekly update in Lost Ark today, August 17th, doesn’t bring any changes that players should really notice. Nevertheless, there are preparations for next week. We at MeinMMO summarize.

When are the servers down? Today, August 17th, at 9am GMT, the servers will go offline for 4 hours and perform the weekly maintenance. If everything goes according to plan, you should be able to play again from 1 p.m.

This even extended the downtime of Lost Ark by two hours. The initial announcement of the weekly maintenance only mentioned two hours instead of four. According to the community manager Roxx, the maintenance has to be extended because the programmers asked for more time.

A lot of downtime for.. nothing? This week is also the first weekly patch in Lost Ark that comes completely without patch notes. This means that for the players in the first place nothing changes at all.

This is causing frustration for some fans on the forums, as although they can’t play for four hours, there aren’t any changes for them at all.

However, Lost Ark emphasizes that the patch is work in the backend, but this is not defined in more detail.

What changes could happen? Since the developers don’t say exactly what backend work they do, we can only speculate at this point. However, it is conceivable that these are preparations for the big August update.

That’s supposed to be coming to Arkesia next week, and starting August 24th, it’ll have the new pet ranch and legendary companions with it. In order for this to go smoothly, a few things in the backend might have to be straightened out.

It would also be conceivable that Lost Ark wants to continue to deal with the power pass problem. They have currently fixed the free passes, but not the paid ones. So players looking to spend money on a boost are looking down the drain.
