Pokemon Go: A world championship event in honor of the 2022 World Cup in London!

Pseudo-Legendarys in Pokémon Go - we wish for a Community Day! (1)

The Pokémon World Championship 2022 in London is coming up and of course it will be celebrated in Pokémon Go! From Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. (local time) to Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 20:00 (local time) the world championship event takes place and brings wild Pokémon, cool items, well-known legendary Pokémon and mega lame!

You can also watch an English language live stream from the Pokémon GO channel on Twitch every day. The streams start at 08:00 UTC – that means in Germany they start at 10:00 in the morning. Codes for new Avatar items are shared in these streams – however, these codes are also shared across social media accounts. If you want the Avatar articles, you don’t necessarily have to watch the streams. However, the codes will expire on August 22, 2022 at 23:59 (UTC) and will no longer be valid after that! And if you want the Timed Research, you should tune in too!

Pokémon debut and bonuses

  • What would a world championship event be without a costumed Pikachu? During the event period, you can catch the World Championships 2022 Pikachu, and with a bit of luck, the costumed Pokémon will even show up in its dazzling form.
  • As you adventure through the world, you may encounter challengers at PokéStops, whose Pokémon teams are inspired by the winners of the Pokémon GO Regional Championships.
  • In the Pokémon GO Battle League, you get triple Stardust for wins
  • During the event period, you can complete ten Battle Sets per day instead of five in GO Battle League. So you can fight a total of 50 battles.

Temporary research

Complete the limited-time research within the event period to earn rewards such as a World Championships 2022 Pikachu encounter, a Top Instant TM, and a Top Charge TM. Once we have the details on the Timed Research steps and rewards, we will update the guide. Attention: The code for the Timed Research is available from the Twitch stream! These codes are only redeemable for one hour after they’re shared, so be quick! There are multiple chances to receive a code during the broadcast if you miss redeeming one in time. The Timed Research is the same for all codes. The codes can therefore not be redeemed more than once.
