Overwatch fans brainstorm perfect cast for live-action movie concept Dexerto

An intense discussion ensued after an Overwatch fan asked who the perfect cast would be for a live-action Overwatch movie.

Video game movies are on a renaissance, following the surprising success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and the reveal of the Mario movie.

As such, fans of major franchises are eager to see serious adaptations of some of their favorite games, like Overwatch, Blizzard’s hit hero shooter.

Now, one fan’s question turned into a pretty in-depth discussion after asking which Hollywood actors would make the perfect cast for a live-action Overwatch.

The discussion stemmed from a post on the Overwatch subreddit by user finn_llama who said “Fake news: An Overwatch live-action movie is in the works. Who will be chosen? [sic]?”

Although some amateurs he immediately chose to provide responses from memes like “The rock as Tracer. And like everyone else”, others took the notice very seriously.

Some of the best comments in the post he suggested Danny Devito as Torbjorn and Arnold Schwarzenegger as Reinhardt, probably based on physicality.

Other top rated comments suggested that some of the current Overwatch voice actors should simply remain in their respective characters.

“Genevieve O’Reilly is an easy choice to play Moira. She is already the voice actress with a great resume,” he suggested. StryfeOW.

A user by name CaptainKaptn responded with a full list of each actor and their corresponding Overwatch hero, complete with credits from previous movies.

Some of his suggestions included Andy Serkis as Winston, Gal Gadot as Pharah, Tilda Swinton as Moira, and again, Matt Mercer as Cassidy.

While there’s no confirmation from Blizzard that a live-action movie is in the works, this fan discussion ended up providing some very solid casting options that the developer may want to take note of.
