Grand Theft Auto 5: Does the NaturalVision Evolved mod give a preview of GTA 6 optics?

The new mod for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 (from 22.57€ at buy) called NaturalVision Evolved conjures up a completely new look that could give a glimpse of the look of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

Even the recently released version of GTA 5 for the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is hardly inferior to the PC version with max settings, which was even confirmed by the technology fetishists at Digital Foundry explained in detail in a video.

With NaturalVision Evolved, experienced modders show that there is still a lot more to be had on a technically fully equipped PC. Their new mod makes the current version – and indeed every other open world game – look pretty old.

New lighting system and more

In addition to parallax mapping, there is a very realistic new lighting system. The display of the weather, including now volumetric clouds, has also undergone a massive overhaul. There are also new textures, revised building and vehicle models and more flora and fauna, which have also been updated visually.

In some scenes, the optics achieved in this way are difficult to distinguish from reality. Now the big question remains, which in the absence of a first trailer for GTA 6, cannot yet be answered: How many new systems that are shown in the video with the NaturalVision Evolved Mod for the PC could also find their way into the new offshoot one of the most successful game series of all time?

It’s hard to believe that a PS5 or Series X is technically capable of displaying such visuals at 60 frames per second. There is no question that Grand Theft Auto VI will step up its game optically and playfully, but the graphical quality shown here will probably not be reached.

The NaturalVision Evolved Mod for PC can at this point be downloaded. It is still in the BETA phase and can currently only be used in GTA 5 single player mode.
