Days Gone will not get a second part, but probably a film adaptation

Days Gone will not get a sequel. Instead, a movie awaits us.

The fan dreams about a sequel to the zombie adventure Days Gone burst this year. Instead, the development studio Bend Studio is now working on a new IP that will be based on the open world systems from Days Gone.

However, the Days Gone franchise doesn’t appear to be completely written off just yet. Should the rumors of Deadline Magazine right, we could soon meet the protagonist Deacon St. John in a different form.

Days Gone is getting its own film adaptation

What’s the rumor? The Deadline team says Sony PlayStation Productions is working on a Days Gone film adaptation. The film is set to be produced by both PlayStation Productions and Vendetta Productions. The screenwriter is Sheldon Turner, who has already written the screenplay for films such as X-Men: First Class.

What will the film be about? The Days Gone movie will likely retell the story of the video game of the same name. The focus of the action is Deacon St. John, who has to survive in a zombie-infested world and is looking for his missing partner. His motorcycle, with which he travels through the area, is particularly striking.

The film should set the scene for Deacon’s journey well. According to Deadline, the film is intended to be a “declaration of love for motorcycle films”, which is why traveling will probably play a larger role in the film.

The actor for Deacon has already been chosen. None other than Sam Heughan is to slip into the role of the protagonist. We already know the actor from the TV series Outlander or films like Bloodshot.

These Sony movies are coming in the future

With Days Gone, Sony is working behind closed doors on a variety of video game adaptations. Video games also in the works include God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Gran Turismo. The Last of Us and Ghost of Tsushima are also expected to hit cinema screens soon.

The Uncharted film has already revealed what the upcoming video game adaptations will look like. Reviews for the film ranged from “very fun” to “miscast”. It remains to be seen how the Days Gone flick will fare when it hits domestic cinemas.
