Shortly before the big showcase in Destiny 2, the rumor mill is churning, because Bungie hasn’t officially revealed anything yet. However, the curiosity of the players is currently fueled by a few leaks that are not so unlikely. MeinMMO tells you which of them have the most potential to be true and also what Bungie itself has probably already leaked about the future of Destiny 2.

What is currently happening in Destiny 2? Excitement is rising as Bungie has a big showcase planned for tomorrow, August 23rd. There you want to give the players a first look at the future.

  • Among other things, the new legacy raid for Season 18 should be presented.
  • There will be first impressions of Arkus 3.0, the new lightning ability.
  • The name of Season 18 is revealed, as well as the corresponding season trailer.
  • And maybe Bungie will also give a little foretaste of the coming future by briefly teasing the new expansion “Lightfall”.

In addition to these official announcements, however, there are already some assumptions and leaks from the Destiny community about this secret future. Bungie even hid a few of them in Destiny 2 itself.

MeinMMO has selected the 5 hottest leaks for you today before the big showcase and presents them in more detail. Some of these have the potential to be true. So if you prefer to surprise yourself, then stop reading now.

Will the fallen play a role again in Season 18?

Rumor #1: The name of Season 18

In Destiny 2, the name of a season can already reveal a lot. So Bungie is keeping him under wraps until the very end. However, there are dataminers who dig deep into Bungie’s code to discover the first secret information there.

One of the best known in the Destiny 2 community is certainly Ginsor. Not only has he published several leaks himself, but he has also put others on the right track, like Josh Hunt.

On August 20th, Hunt published an overview on his Twitter account, which should also contain the name of the new season 18.

He also states that he believes the information is quite reliable, writing: “Nothing is 100% true until Bungie officially announces it. However, that came from Bungie (accidentally), so I’m pretty confident about that.

If you believe its release, then the new Season 18 in Destiny 2 would be called “Season of the Plunder”. So in German it might be “season of looting” or “season of the looters”.

He also mentions story content, such as a ketch crash, and even the new season activities that are said to be called “Expedition” and “Hideouts”.

Leak also shows release notes: In his post one also discovers the name “Nebula”. Internally at Bungie, this is probably the code name for the new Lightfall extension, which could indicate further announcements.

By the way, Ginsor said: “Lightfall looks like a cross between Mass Effect and cyberpunk“. If that’s true, Bungie’s latest expansion in 2023, like Witch Queen, could cause quite a stir among interested Guardians.

Rumor #2: Fortnite and Destiny 2 Cooperation

The resemblance to the “Drifter” from Fortnite is amazing.

For Season 18, however, the keepers are not only curious about the story content. The new armor and cosmetics are also interesting.

When three skins from Season 18 were leaked over the weekend, which are strongly reminiscent of Fortnite, it caused a lot of excitement. Is there actually a crossover between Destiny 2 and Fortnite? If you believe Ginsor, then definitely.

The next crazy fusion of Fortnite is supposedly Destiny 2 and that next week – 3 skins are circulating

The new skins for Eververse in Destiny 2 would therefore be skins from the Battle Royal shooter Fortnite. And here the resemblance cannot be dismissed out of hand.

However, it is unclear whether this only means a visual or a substantive collaboration. In any case, it seems like Bungie raided the closets for Season 18 at Fortnite. However, the community is already enjoying the designs of these alleged armor ornaments. This is what seZynikaEDM writes on Twitter:

Honestly the Destiny versions look […] much better looking than the Fortnite versions.

Rumor #3: An exo-mission predicts the future ahead

Destiny 2 Eramis Fallen Beyond Light Boss Title
Do the Keepers of Eramis have to thaw out again soon?

If you play Destiny 2, you will often start pondering while gambling. Especially when Bungie itself hides cryptic clues in its lore or in a special activity about the future of Destiny 2. One exo mission in particular is hotly debated by the community because of its predictions.

What is the mission? The exotic mission “Vox Obscura” is one of the many weapon quests in Destiny 2. In it, the Guardians earn the Dead Messenger exo-grenade launcher and investigate a conspiracy between Calus and the Psions.

The mission builds up from week to week. That means you can play them multiple times, but the voicelines will change.

That’s why it’s worth listening carefully: Because of these different dialogues, as a player you can find out something new every week. Usually there are 5-7 different, slightly different voicelines of the characters involved.

This not only reduces the boredom factor when grinding, but has now also caused some discussions. Because obviously Bungie predicted the future of Destiny 2 itself in “Vox Obscura”.

Destiny 2: Guide to the Weapon Exo Dead Messenger – Funny mission “Vox Obscura” rewards you twice

What did the mission tell the Guardians? At the very end, when the last voiceline is due, the mission reveals several predictions of the Cabal Psions. The first of these, “Leviathan Reincarnated, Returns,” has even arrived.

In Season 17, the Guardians did indeed encounter Calus and the now-abandoned Leviathan, infested with Egregore spores, parked behind the moon. It ended in the dungeon showdown between Caiatl and her father Calus.

Season 17 did indeed bring back the Leviathan, albeit modified.

However, these three gloomy announcements have not yet arrived:

  • Prediction 2: The ship thief will be revived.
  • Prediction 3: A city under siege.
  • Prediction 4: A traveler infected by the darkness.

With prediction number 2, there is a strong suspicion that ship thief probably means Eramis, main villain from “Beyond Light”. And as is well known, she is not dead. She was merely frozen on Europa and her fallen house scattered to the four winds – left without a guide.

If you assume name leaks for Season 18, this may indicate looting fallen. In addition, a reference to a “ketch crash callout” was published in the leak by Josh Hunt.

So whatever awaits us in Season 18, if the currently frozen Eramis actually plays a role in it, then she is probably either on the side of the guardians or on the side of darkness.

Incidentally, Bungie fueled this rumor with a recently released short video that asked: “…who will break the ice?

  • This either indicates that the Guardians must free Eramis from her ice shell.
  • That the once-legendary sniper “Icebreaker” will return to the game in Season 18.
  • Or nothing at all, which would not be very exciting.

And the rest of the predictions? Vox Obscura also predicts “a city under siege” and that’s particularly interesting given that Destiny 2 is about to be released with the upcoming Lightfall expansion.

We know the darkness is on its way to us. The Witness stated at the end of The Witch Queen DLC that the game is now over and the Children of Sol have suffered enough.

It’s almost clear that the witness wants the traveler. And the last place of refuge for mankind could also be under siege by the pyramid ships. It would be grandiose and fatal at the same time.

Myth #4: A meaningful image that needs no words

In Season 18, an old raid from Destiny 2 will return again. And the potentially strongest candidate to win the race is currently “Königsfall”.

And indeed, some leakers have already committed to the return of the great Oryx. On August 20, Ginsor only posted a picture with a chess piece that actually doesn’t need any further words.

Just the figure of a fallen chess king.

And the MeinMMO community would also be excited about the return of this classic, as you told us in a survey.

Players in Destiny 2 agree – want one of the biggest raids for Season 18 back

Myth #5: No more annoying grind

The latest leak talks about the elimination of the annoying power level grind in Destiny 2. Something that some players would welcome. Relaxed leveling for Destiny 2 that would make you independent of RNG-based pinnacle loot.

Destiny Leaks indicated via Twitter that this might happen. Bungie is said to have been thinking about changing the current system since Season 14. It would then be another step away from the hard grind.

Destiny 2: Leak indicates loss of power level – is already being celebrated by players

  • Players would be able to play what they want with these changes and would gain experience points for each activity, which will further increase their power level.
  • In order to achieve the necessary cap for endgame activities such as front runners, Bungie could grant more experience points to the guardians in harder difficulties.
  • The return of the Five of Swords card could further increase XP gain by giving players even more experience points for more negative modifiers.

Some of our readers here on MeinMMO would also very much welcome this change for Destiny 2, such as Sni.

I’m a Destiny player par excellence and I really appreciate that. 1. If you want to gamble with all 3 characters, this weekly cycle is extremely annoying! 2. Should it replace the activities to level up the power bonus instead of bounties. 3. Is there no disadvantage for the perpetual player as opposed to the others.
