The Last of Us: HBO releases first scenes from the TV series
As part of a trailer compilation, HBO has presented all series in more detail that are to run on HBO Max in the coming year. Also included was the series adaptation of The Last of Us, for which moving images were shown for the first time.
Fans have had to wait a long time, but now the first moving images of the upcoming HBO Max series of The Last of Us are finally available. The glimpse from the streaming adaptation of Naughty Dog’s award-winning video game spans around 20 seconds from a trailer designed to showcase upcoming content for HBO Max.
Short excerpts show an exhausted Joel and anxious Ellie
After more than a year has passed since we were able to see new details about the HBO series with a few pictures from the set, the short trailer clip shows the two protagonists of the series in action for the first time. We see Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Nick Offerman as Bill. The short scenes do not yet provide much information about the content of the series and the design of the mutants, but at least they set a clear tonality: the loss of loved ones will play a central role in the series – as well as in the video game template.
We do catch a glimpse of an infected fungal spore on a wall, but HBO still owes us the actual appearance of the monsters in The Last of Us. What fans should be happy about in the meantime: The main characters give the impression that they fit their roles well. Ellie’s face clearly shows fear in one scene, while Joel looks very exhausted and worn out throughout the trailer.
A final release date for The Last of Us TV series on HBO Max has not yet been announced. The trailer only mentions a start of the first season in the coming year 2023. So fans will have to be patient a little longer, but the first impression of the trailer should at least shorten the waiting time a bit.
