Buy graphics card: Geforce RTX 3000 partly cheaper - market overview

The latest price check revealed it only recently: Before the expected launch of the new RTX 4000 graphics card generation in October, the prices of the current Geforce models have fallen again in some cases. For the first time, various models are below the list price in US dollars, but due to the poor exchange rate, German customers don’t feel that much and tend to pay a little more than overseas.

Meanwhile, the trend for comparatively cheap graphics cards should continue for the time being due to full stock, while the upcoming RTX 40 cards will of course be more expensive than the models currently available, due to their novelty. As our current graphics card ranking with 24 Radeon and Geforce GPUs in the benchmark shows, the current cards are also more than fast enough for normal gaming operations.

In contrast to the situation that has been tense for a long time with prices that are too high, anyone who currently needs a graphics card can access it with a clear conscience given the currently relaxed market situation.

How have the prices developed?

Compared to our last market overview from the beginning of August, the cheapest available model of Nvidia’s entry-level graphics card Geforce RTX 3050 starts 10 euros cheaper (299 euros instead of 309 euros). In connection with a cashback campaign at Gigabyte (until August 31st), the RTX 3060 is also cheaper and starts at best at 359 euros instead of the previous 375 euros (including cashback), while the RTX 3060 Ti starts at 469 euros regardless of this formerly 479 euros starts.

With the RTX 3070 and 3070 Ti, the price structure for the cheapest models has not changed, while the 10 and 12 GiB variants of the RTX 3080 continue to cost the same as entry-level models. Meanwhile, the price of the previously cheapest RTX 3090 has fallen by around 40 euros, while the 3090 Ti has only become around 10 euros cheaper. At around 1,290 euros, it is still a long way from the RRP of 2,249 euros advertised in March.

Geforce RTX 3000 and Radeon RX 6000: Prices continue to fall

The Ampere and RDNA 2 graphics cards are to be replaced by their successors later this year. However, both AMD and Nvidia seem to want to launch the high-end graphics cards first, so it may well be another year before graphics cards are available for the masses of gamers. Depending on the prices, it might be worth taking a look at the mid-range to high-end models of the current generation of graphics cards, which are currently cheaper than ever.

For the first time since the price overviews were created, the prices of five selected graphics cards (RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, 3070 and 3080 10 GiB) have fallen below their list price in US dollars on average and are still 97 percent from that. Unfortunately, German buyers don’t notice this due to the current exchange rate and have to pay about 20 percent more than the US list prices. Nevertheless, the price level has dropped significantly (see offers at Mindfactory), although the prices could be cheaper shortly before the end of this generation’s life.
