PlayStation Plus: Sony launches free weekend

Completely exhausted from running around at Gamescom? Then a round of multiplayer with nice colleagues in the evening is the perfect way to end the day. This is also possible this weekend without a PS Plus subscription on PS4 and PS5.

Haven’t tried Returnal’s online co-op mode yet and a round of GTA 5 multiplayer with the new PS5 version would be worth a trip? This works on August 27th and 28th even without a subscription to the rather expensive online service.

Just play together for free

It should be well known that online multiplayer mode for almost all games requires a Playstation Plus subscription. If that’s too expensive and the offer offered in return is too meager for you, you’ll have to look into the tube when the buddies celebrate fun and often unforgettable online games.

But Sony has donated to Gamescom 2022 and is offering a free weekend for players on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. So even without a PS Plus subscription, you can try out the multiplayer of numerous games on Saturday and Sunday.

A nice gesture, but unfortunately the time frame is still quite tight. Sony does not say whether you can also try out the games that you get monthly as part of Playstation Plus. This month we have the fantastic JRPG Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 and Little Nightmares – just try and see if the download works.
