LoL: 5 German Twitch streamers win league, break viewer record – “Mid plays from gamescom”
Yesterday, August 23rd, the final of the German LoL league, Prime League Div 2, took place in League of Legends. 5 German twitch streamers managed a miracle run with their team “No Need Orga”.
The midlaner NoWay played from the gamescom in Cologne. It was a spectacle with 70,000 spectators at the top and some wild stories surrounding it: In the decisive Match 5, the team first searched Google for the right counterpick against Olaf.
What was that game? The “Prime League” is the regional league in Germany. Yesterday the final of the second division took place: It was a “best of three” for the championship in Germany’s second division.
A place in the final also gives you the opportunity to prove yourself in relegation matches against the bottom of the 1st league and to move up to the highest German league. On the other hand, you have to buy into the professional league LEC – there is no sporting promotion possible.
Who was in the final? The table first of the regular season, Hertha BSC, played against the table sixth of the regular season, No Need Orga.
The No Need Orga team consists of some of the most successful German LoL streamers:
- Frederik “NoWay” Hinteregger (30) in the midlane – This is the second largest German Twitch streamer ever. He is now significantly larger than MontanaBlack.
- Niklot “Tolkin” Stüber in the top plane (24) – He is the third largest German streamer on League of LEgends
- Muhammed “Agurin” Kocat (26) in the jungle – the fifth largest German LoL streamer
- Daniel “Broeki” Broekmann (31) as Botlaner – The eighth largest German LoL streamer, right after Trymacs, who occasionally looks into LoL
- Lukas “Karni” Steiniger as a supporter – he’s a bit behind, but he’s still in the top 20
How did the game end? The outsiders from No Need Orga won the match 3-2. The Miracle Run was perfect.

How many watched the game? With 69,881 spectators at its peak, the final of the 2nd division was a record for the Prime League. The league has been on Twitch since 2019 – it has never had so many viewers.
The final of the 1st league on 20.8. had around 30,000 viewers on Twitch.

How will the final be discussed? What is special is the circumstances under which the championship came together. Because the 5 players of “No Need Orga” are different than LoL teams otherwise appear.
The botlaner Broeki says: In the decisive match 5, Hertha would have picked the champ Olaf on the top lane and the streamers were apparently at a loss as to what to play against it. You simply researched “Olaf Counterpick” and discussed the Google suggestions:

But another adds: It helps that NoWay and Agurin have been among the most talented players on the local EUW server for years.
2nd league in Germany 2022 bigger than the first
Why is the 2nd division so exciting? There is a huge viewership boom that Twitch streamers bring with them when they are involved in esports. We’ve been seeing that for a few years – for example with shroud’s Valorant excursion. 5 Twitch streamers in a LoL team provide a significant attention boost, as the numbers show:
The “Unicorns of Love” won the final in the first division against Schalke 04 with 3-1 on August 20th. relatively clear win. But that didn’t catch the attention of the second division final.
For many, the most exciting team in the 1st division is “Eintracht Spandau” and they were eliminated in the first playoff round against Schalke. After that, many arguably stopped following the league.
But in the 2nd league, “No Need Orga” is a team of the biggest German twitch streamers. NoWay in particular is huge in the German LoL scene.
Things weren’t looking too good for the team as they were only 6th in the normal league with a 9-9 score. Therefore, they immediately played “in the lower bracket” in the playoffs. But there they managed a miracle run.

What is a Miracle Run in LoL? The playoffs in LoL are arranged in such a way that teams that finish first in the regular season have a relatively easy time winning the playoffs:
- The Hertha BSC team, which finished first in the season, “only” had to win two series to win the title
- On the other hand, NNO, who came in sixth, needed to win 4 series to become champions.
If a team with such a bad starting position manages to win the title against all odds, this is called a miracle run.
However, the streamers themselves seem to be struggling a bit with their success, because promotion to the 1st league is uncertain:
