Buy Ryzen 7000: AMD does not expect any delivery bottlenecks

from Thilo Bayer
AMD wants to start selling the Ryzen 7000 processors in a month. The total capacity for wafers or substrates has been “drastically increased” so that there are no delivery bottlenecks.

AMD’s announcements about Ryzen 7000 sound almost too good. Stable, sometimes even lower prices than Ryzen 5000, more fps and features across the board – interest should be very high after today’s day. But what happens if demand is too great after September 27th?

Total capacity has been drastically increased

After the presentation of Ryzen 7000 in the live stream, there was a question and answer session, where, among other things, PC gamers paid more attention. One of those present asked whether there could be disruptions in the supply chain in the context of the release of the new CPUs. Lisa Su is self-confident. There have indeed been a number of issues over the past 18 months, Su admits, both in terms of “capacity constraints and logistics.” However, one reacted to this and therefore the “total capacity increased drastically, both for the wafers and for the substrates and in the backend”. With the introduction of Zen 4, AMD expects “no delivery bottlenecks”. It is unclear to what period of time the statement refers.

Lisa Su also provides an answer to the question of why AMD makes the presentation at the end of August and only then delivers it a month later. Su makes it clear that “logistically speaking” it is currently taking longer than usual for products to reach the respective region. The relatively long gap between announcement (08/30) and sale (09/27) is because you want to make sure “to have the products in the region so that people can really consider buying”.

Su also said in her speech that AMD “loves the PC, especially gamers and PC enthusiasts around the world.” They would be responsible for AMD being challenged again and again to “develop the best CPUs and GPUs”. “Very ambitious goals” have been developed for Ryzen 7000, no less than “market leadership in terms of performance, but also energy efficiency”.
