WoW Dragonflight: Beta with character copy and addon support
The WoW: Dragonflight beta has started and, in contrast to the alpha, has two important features at the start: the creation of copies of your retail characters and support for addons.
We have already reported that Blizzard executives from the Alpha of WoW: Dragonflight a beta without much notice have made. If you haven’t checked your launcher yet, but fancy an early trip to the Dragon Isles, do so now. Apparently the developers have sent out numerous invitations for the beta.
Now with retail chars and addons!
In contrast to the alpha testers, you have access to two important features right from day one. First, after creating the first beta character, you can use the character select feature “Copy Character” to bring your retail characters into the beta. Alternatively, you can also create new level 60 characters with which you can jump straight into the Dragonflight level phase.
If you don’t want to do without your addons from Retail-WoW, you can even use them in the beta with some cuts. For example, copy the corresponding folders from the WoW installation directory (_retail_/interface/addons) to the beta directory (_beta_/interface/addons). Important: Only when you have installed or copied modifications do the well-known selection options for “addons” appear in character creation and in the game menu.
Please note that many addons have not yet been adapted for Dragonflight and can therefore cause errors. Before you install addons that you want to use to customize the user interface, you should also try out the new HUD editing mode. You may then notice that you no longer need the corresponding addon.
