WoW WotLK Classic: Character Service finally offers announced feature
Weeks ago, the WoW developers announced a new character service feature as part of the WotLK Classic release date announcement. The pre-patch is now active and the new in-game feature is also available.
Over time, WoW’s character service has gone through quite a few changes. While it didn’t even exist in the Classic days, we’ve been able to make more and more adjustments to our characters over time. We were allowed to move to other servers, change the race and even the faction and give our heroes a completely new look. Some of it has gradually disappeared. For example, the barber now takes care of adjusting the look of our characters and we no longer have to put real money on the table for it.
InWoW (buy now ) Classic for a long time there was only the possibility to move our hero from one server to another – and in some cases even free of charge. But already during the announcement of the release of WotLK Classic, the developers revealed that the feature will be expanded in the near future. And that’s how it happened.
Character renaming in WotLK Classic now available
Since the pre-patch for WotLK Classic has been active on the servers, we have found the character renaming item in the character services of the in-game shop. With it, we can easily customize the name of our hero.
With the new character rename you can change the name of your hero.

However, how could it be otherwise, real money is due for this. You have to put ten euros on the table if you want to change the name of your hero. While that’s a hefty price tag, it’s still far lower than most retail character services now cost. As a reminder, there you have to pay 25 euros for a server change, 30 euros for a faction change and even for changing the people within a server 25 euros.
At the time, many players were extremely critical of the introduction of character services. Due to the possibility of changing the name, one’s own name and the standing developed on the server are no longer worth anything. Above all, however, players who ruined their reputations with outrageous acts could simply change their name and carry on unmolested. Do you see it the same way or is that not a problem for you?
