WoW: Dragonflight: New feature provides clarity in the talent trees
The new talent trees are the highly anticipated feature of WoW: Dragonflight. Both players and developers have high hopes. Because the new, dual talent trees should solve several problems at once. They should not only bring the classes and playstyles back into shape, but also give much more room for customization and at the same time replace the unloved systems of Borrowed Power.
Of course, this requires that the talent trees are much more complex than the earlier versions, which were eventually replaced by the talent matrix. And that is indeed the case. We can distribute a total of 61 points in the two trees and unlock or upgrade umpteen skills. It’s easy to lose track of things. Especially since there are many perks that affect several skills at once. To prevent this, the WoW developers have now added another feature to the talent trees with the start of the beta.
A search function – with a few extras
The talent window now has a search function at the bottom left that you can use to search for the various skills. But that alone would be very little. The new search function can therefore do much more.

Similar to the search function for mounts or toys, all tooltips are searched. So if you type in an ability (which is suggested in a drop-down tab as soon as you type something), you’ll see all the talents and perks that have any impact on that ability. It doesn’t matter whether they increase the effect, reduce the cooldown or replace the attack. This makes it very convenient to build around special attacks.
But you can also search for any other term. For example, if you type in “Tempo”, you will see everything that has Tempo in the tooltip. If you type “immune”, the system marks everything that deals with immunities of any kind. So you no longer have to endlessly go through the tooltips until you find what you want to know.
Of course, this is particularly interesting for classes that you don’t play that regularly. Or when you face a specific challenge. If you’re constantly dying, it might help to take a quick look at what talents you can use to increase “healing” or “shield” yourself. While the new system won’t make you a better player, it can save you quite a bit of lifetime.
