Asterigos: Curse of the Stars – If Dark Souls and Kena had a child
Genre: Action RPG Developer: Acme Game Studios Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC release: October 11, 2022
The promising action role-playing game Asterigos: Curse of the Stars finally has a release date. Publisher tinyBuild and developer Acme Gamestudios have scheduled the launch for October 11th. We’ll tell you what’s behind the PlayStation and Xbox game, whose look is reminiscent of Immortals Fenyx Rising and Kena: Bridge of Spirits, but whose gameplay is based on Dark Souls.
No soulslike has ever been so colourful
A red-haired heroine battling through hordes of monsters in a world inspired by Greek and Roman mythology. If you’ve played Immortals Fenyx Rising, this should sound familiar. However, behind Asterigos: Curse of the Stars is a relatively small studio and your demands on the graphics and animations should be correspondingly lower. For a low-budget title that will cost €34.99 upon release (via Steam), but Asterigos can definitely convince, as you can see in the trailer:

Asterigos – The Adventure for PS4, PS5 and PC will delight fans of Immortals: Fenyx Rising
Behind the colorful facade is a genuine Soulslike
In Hilda’s sandals, we set out to solve the mystery of the cursed city of Aphes. Cursed people and mystical monsters await on our way, which Hilda has to fight back with various fighting styles. We have a whole range of melee and ranged weapons at our disposal, which we can combine like in the Souls games:
- swords
- shields
- daggers
- spears
- hammers
- magic wands
- magic bracelets
In the fights, it is dealt and rolled properly. We have to pay attention to our endurance gauge, otherwise Hilda will be defenseless. When health is low, a potion is swallowed. Of course, all this is very reminiscent of Dark Souls, but it’s not nearly as hard as the big role model. There are even different levels of difficulty! If you’ve played Kena, you know roughly what’s in store for you, because the PlayStation title also offers tough fights.
Your choices matter in Asterigos
Where Asterigos goes its own way are decisions and their consequences. This not only applies to dialogue options, but also to our actions. For example, if we attack a person that we should actually let live, we get in trouble with a faction, learn less about the background and Hilda’s character develops negatively, which results in further consequences for the later course of the story.
Does Asterigos: Curse of the Stars make you want more with its colorful soul-like approach?
