Splitgate: further development stopped – team is already working on a new project

Splitgate developer 1047 Games announces that they intend to stop development of the game. Instead, you want to shift the focus to work on the follow-up title.

Splitgate marks the breakthrough for the development studio so far. The title blended elements of Halo and Portal to offer an exciting mix of two acclaimed franchises that has already attracted over ten million players to the screens in the first 30 days of the beta launch. In a statement published by the 1047 Games team on Twitter, the developers justify their decision to discontinue further development of Splitgate. However, they assured their fans that the next in-house title should also be a shooter based on portal mechanics.

The release reads: “After careful consideration, the team at 1047 Games has decided that we are stopping development of Splitgate in order to develop the game that fans deserve – and to develop it in a way that doesn’t attempt to to retrofit an existing product and continue to operate it”. In addition, the team wants to say goodbye to “iterative, minor updates” and thus “focus on a new game in the Splitgate universe… It will be a shooter, it will have portals and it will be developed in Unreal Engine 5 . Oh, and it will be free,” the team continues in their post.

New Battle Pass – Game stays online with items and progression

At the end of Splitgate, the developers once again announce a new Battle Pass. This will be released on September 15th and will be available to all players free of charge. In addition, Splitgate’s online servers should continue to be available, while players should not lose access to their items and their previous progress.
