Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty add-on announced with teaser [Update] – News

During an investor conference, developer CD Projekt RED announced further plans for Cyberpunk 2077 and the brand as a whole. It has now been officially confirmed that the recently announced add-on Phantom Liberty is the only major DLC that will be released for Cyberpunk 2077. Michael Nowakowski responded to a related question:

We have decided to develop a major expansion for Cyberpunk that will take advantage of the possibilities of the new generation consoles.

Nowakowski, Vice President of Business Development at CD Projekt RED, added:

With that said, we remain committed to evolving the Cyberpunk brand beyond this expansion. We’ve put a lot of effort and time into building this franchise and we definitely want to build on it with new stories, experiences, new content and not just in video game form, but I’ll leave it at that. So, there will only be one major expansion, but there will be more in the future.

There were already initial indications that an add-on for Cyberpunk 2077 could remain. In March of this year, CD Projekt RED announced a strategic partnership with Epic Games, as a result of which the Polish company will use its own RED engine for upcoming projects such as the next role-playing game in the Witcherseries is based on Unreal Engine 5. Said announcement also included the closing paragraph that the Red Engine would continue to be used to develop “the upcoming Cyberpunk expansion”.

During the recent Night City Wire stream presentation, CD Projekt RED officially announced the Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 (tested, grade 10.0). In the teaser trailer, you can hear V being sworn in to protect the New United States of America.

Phantom Liberty is billed as a “spy thriller” expansion that takes you to a new district in Night City in 2023 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S|X and Stadia.

In addition, update 1.6 for Cyberpunk 2077 was presented, which will be released tonight and introduces, among other things, transmog as a feature.
