The PS5 has received an improved model from Sony. It’s said to be more efficient and cheaper than the old PlayStation. An expert analyzes the changes.

Australia – The Sony PlayStation 5 is a very popular console. For this reason it is almost permanently sold out in Germany 2 years after its release. Now a new model of the PS5 has appeared. What initially sounds good, since the console is arguably cheaper for Sony, but arguably has fewer advantages for buyers. Technology YouTuber Austin Evans showed all the changes in a YouTube video.

PS5: New Model Emerged – More Efficient and Cheaper for Sony?

That happened: Sony has launched a new PS5 model in Australia. The PS5 1200 is the successor to the Playstation 5 1100. It first appeared at the end of August. YouTuber Austin Evans grabbed the Digital Edition of the new model and wanted to find out what the specific changes are. From the outside, the two models look identical.

This has changed with the new PS5 model: The YouTuber opened up the new PS5 model and looked at all the changes. While there have been changes to the heatsink, Austin Evans says there are no changes in heat and noise. Overall, the new model is more efficient than its predecessor. These are the most serious differences to the old model:

• Around half a kilo lighter than its predecessor
• Smaller heatsink
• Smaller motherboard
• Lower Power Consumption – Around 10% less than the old PS5 model in a test

New PS5 model cheaper for Sony? All other changes of the new PS5 are not particularly worth mentioning. They mainly consist of material savings. According to expert Austin Evans, these changes are designed to make the new PS5 model cheaper for Sony to produce.

However, when there are these savings, they are not passed on to you. On the contrary. Just recently, Sony increased the price of the Playstation 5 worldwide, except for the US.

Can you buy the new PS5 model in Germany? So far, the new Playstation 5 is only available in Australia, so to get hold of a fresh version you’d have to travel quite a distance.
