PlayStation 5: Best-selling console of 2022 ahead of Nintendo Switch in the UK

This year, the PlayStation 5 is the best-selling console in the UK, ahead of the Nintendo Switch.

Since the release of the new generation of consoles, stock shortages and disrupted supply chains have repeatedly caused problems. But in the case of the PlayStation 5, UK sales appear to be picking up again.

According to the sales figures of GfK (via GamesIndustry), August inventories are up 56% mom, which equates to higher sales.

What’s more, the PlayStation 5 is the best-selling console in the UK so far in 2022, ahead of the Nintendo Switch, which has only seen a 4% increase. The Xbox Series X|S was able to achieve about the same numbers in the periods and therefore ranks behind Sony and Nintendo.

In August 2022, 125,000 consoles were sold in total. That is 20% more than in July. So far in 2022, 880,000 consoles have been sold. Which means a 36% drop from the same period last year.
