Pokémon Go: Asset download for better on-the-go performance

from Susan Brown
A few days ago, the developers of Pokémon Go activated a function in the game that lets you save data on the go and can even improve the performance of Pokémon Go. We tell you how to download all game assets. However, you may need a lot of free megabytes in your memory for this.

The developers at Niantic have released another small convenience feature for Pokémon Go, which has been available since September 8th, 2022. The game now allows you to download all Pokemon Go assets. On the one hand you can do this in Wifi to possibly save data on the go. On the other hand, as the Pokémon Go makers indicate, the game’s performance can be improved, and this will be of particular interest to trainers who are active in the PvE and PvP meta. So how do you download all of the Pokémon Go assets and, more importantly, how much extra space do you need on your memory card?

Download advanced settings for all content

First, the important bit of information the game doesn’t tell you about full asset downloads: you’ll need about 300MB of extra space in your storage to download all of Pokémon Go’s content – on iOS, we’re even told a whopping 670MB. So make sure you have a good amount of space before you click on the Poké Ball at the bottom of the Pokémon Go overworld screen and then go to Settings in the top right.

Then scroll further down to the Advanced Settings menu item (between Pokémon Go Plus and About Pokémon Go). There you will finally find the option to download all content, which then reduces your data consumption and loading times when playing. You’ll be reminded once again to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network so you don’t sacrifice your mobile data for the download. Only then will you see how many MB assets are actually downloaded to your device and then you can decide to cancel the download process if you run out of space.
