Battlefield 2042: Update 2.0.1 is coming today as an important hotfix

Around 10 a.m. DICE and EA release update 2.0.1 for Battlefield 2042 as an important hotfix. While the changes are few, they are important.

On the usual update Tuesday, EA and DICE will release patch 2.0.1 for Battlefield 2042 from 10 a.m. today.

Update 2.0.1: That’s in it

The published ones release notes are not particularly extensive, the changes still seem to be important enough when they appear as a mid-season update. DICE explains that it has a small number of bug fixes, most notably the visual effects (VFX) of Paik’s EMG-X scanner, which had a range and duration hotfix already deployed on September 1st. The result is that the scanner’s VFX no longer extend beyond its effective range. Also, the duration of the revealed location notification for scanned targets has been reduced due to community feedback that the notification is annoying during gameplay.

The next major game update will not be available until late September or early October. It includes the rework of the map “Renewal”, the Polaris RZR as a new vehicle and new vault weapons. Details of the changes will be reported in a few weeks.

changelog

  • The Avancys and AM40s no longer display a visible weapon dither when fired from a secondary weapon after swapping
  • Fixed cases where red containers would glitch on “Stranded” inside the ship.
  • Fixed an issue where the Interact button would sometimes trigger repeatedly. This could lead, for example, to re-entering a vehicle immediately after exiting it.

Paik

  • The EMG-X Scanner VFX now matches the maximum range of this ability (25m)
  • The “Location Revealed” notification for a detected target now stays on screen for 0.3s

Background: Battlefield 2042 Season 2

The release of Update 2 and Season 2 for Battlefield 2042 has the hoped-for upturn in player numbers brought to Steam. While there were around 4,400 players right before the update, more than 17,000 Battlefield players were playing at the same time – four times as many. In Season 1, the numbers went up to around 15,000 simultaneous players, so it can be said that interest in Season 2 was slightly higher than in Season 1. The coming days and weeks will show how sustainable these numbers are. There have been no changes worth mentioning in the short-term approval, which is around 50 percent.
