Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will be released in May 2023 and is called Tears of the Kingdom.
Well, it’s finally getting more concrete: Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is coming, that’s been clear for a long time, only it won’t be called Breath of the Wild 2, but Tears of the Kingdom. You’ll have to wait a little longer, but not for long: If I read the US spelling of the date correctly, Link will be making his second major Switch trip on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will start on May 12th, 2023.
Not much else has been revealed. Actually nothing. Link, apparently aged a bit, hovers over a pretty kingdom on a clearly advanced-looking glider with a vision that you don’t always believe the Switch is capable of, but which Nintendo itself then conjures up (or is that just the power of the cloud?).
There will be climbing, floating, big gates will be pushed open, it will be phenomenal. And who knows, and this is now very much speculation: At that time, the new Zelda Twilight Princess bridged the end of the old console and the beginning of a new generation. Perhaps Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will also lead us to a new Switch 2. Which will certainly not be called Switch 2, just as the game is not called Breath of the Wild 2 either.
