According to CEO Tim Cook, Apple has not only optimized the internal design of the iPhone 14. The new model is also said to have the longest battery life of any iPhone. It also offers an improved display with Dolby Vision. It will be available in five new colors: Midnight, Starlight, a pale shade of blue, violet and red.

While the iPhone 14 gets the A15 chip from the iPhone 14 Pro of the previous series in a drilled version, a new system-on-a-chip called A16 Bionic works inside the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The 4-nanometer method was used for this. The CPU contains six cores – two of them are high-performance cores, the others are trimmed for efficiency. The GPU has 5 cores and 50 percent more memory bandwidth.

On the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, the improved cameras still have three sensors on the back. The main camera offers 12 megapixels and a larger, new sensor with a faster aperture and 49 percent better low-light performance. This should make night mode images twice as fast possible. The front camera also has 12 megapixels and a faster focus thanks to the hybrid system.

Apple promises that an improved image pipeline and deep fusion function as a “photonic engine” should help to get more details and better colors in low light conditions. The video stabilization has also been improved by “Action Mode”, so that a gimble should no longer be required.

There are also three camera sensors on the back of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The main camera has 48 megapixels. A new 2x telephoto option is said to be able to offer “optical quality” of an optical zoom. The ultra wide-angle camera has 12 megapixels. Apple emphasizes the improved quality in low-light conditions with both sensors.
