Filming on the third season of the hit Netflix series The Witcher has wrapped and lead actor Henry Cavill thanks everyone involved.

After production for The Witcher season 3 officially started in April and was temporarily paused on set in August due to an outbreak of the coronavirus, the official Twitter channel has now announced that the footage is in the bag. Accordingly, the continuation of the series can now go into post-production with editing, effects and the like.

Meanwhile, Witcher actor Henry Cavill addressed the film crew with a personal message in the form of a greeting card. A set photo with Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri was also published to match. “What a season this has been! I just wanted to thank you all for your determination and dedication through a tough shoot. Hope you all can get some well-deserved rest. Sincerely and with respect, Henry Cavill.”

Season 3 plot

According to Netflix, the third season of The Witcher will be all about Ciri, who is being pursued by all sorts of powers. Geralt protects the young girl while Yennefer wants to find out more about Ciri’s hidden powers. In view of the post-production that will follow after the shooting has now ended, it remains to be seen when season 3 can be expected to be released. It is likely that it will start broadcasting sometime in the next year.

“Monarchs, mages and beasts of the continent share a common goal: to capture Ciri of Cintra. Determined to do whatever it takes to protect his reunited family from those who threaten to destroy them, Geralt hides Ciri. Yennefer, entrusted with Ciri’s magical training leads her to the sheltered fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to learn more about the girl’s hidden powers. Instead, they end up in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and betrayal. Forced to fight, they must do it all at once Bet card – or risk losing each other forever.”
