There is a sign of life from ArcheAge 2! Kakao Games and developer XL Games have agreed on a publishing deal for the online role-playing game. The release is planned for 2024. 100 developers are currently working on the ArcheAge sequel.

In September 2020, we reported that Korean developer Jake Song (Lineage) and his team at XL Games want to develop a sequel to his online role-playing game ArcheAge from 2013 (Korea launch).. The plans for the project at the time read as follows:

  • ArcheAge 2 aims to be a next-gen triple-A MMORPG that has the unique freedom and sandbox style of its predecessor, while also aiming to merge lineage and WoW.
  • The XL Games team consisted of 50 people in 2020, XL Games, Kakao Games supported the development.
  • The plan is to further expand the team and bring the game to market faster than its predecessor. You want to focus on certain core content such as housing and seafaring and offer the players the greatest possible freedom. What you definitely don’t want: Make it fair to all types of players and end up delivering a “feature creep” with too many systems and functions.
