You need to know this before the beta

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Beta offers you the opportunity to test the new Call of Duty before it is released. However, before attempting the beta, keep the following things in mind.

The beta will be phased in and not across all platforms at once

The beta phases run continuously from September 16th to 26th, 2022. But the betas are not always for all platforms and players. Here is the plan of the beta phases

  • September 16-17: Closed Beta, but only for the PlayStation
  • September 18-20: Open Beta for all players, but only on PlayStation
  • September 22-23: Closed Beta for PC & Xbox, start of Open Beta for players on PlayStation
  • September 24th to 26th: Open Beta for all platforms starts now

The beta phases always start at 7:00 p.m. Central European Time. PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 owners can pre-download the game as early as September 14th at 7:00 p.m. if they pre-order. So pre-ordering is doubly worthwhile here. Download takes place on the corresponding console shops as well as via Steam or Activision’s platform Battle.net.

There are guaranteed beta keys

To participate in the closed betas, you need a beta key. With a bit of luck, you can get keys for closed beta access through giveaways at events or through competitions. One such event was the live show CoD: Next, which you can watch on our Twitch channel MAX—Monsters & Blasts could follow.

But there’s also a surefire way to guarantee you’ll get into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II beta. Because when you pre-order any version of the game, a beta key for your platform of choice is included, among other goodies.

So if you definitely want to play and get to know Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II before release, then pre-ordering is ideal for you!

The beta affects the main game

In the beta, you can test various content and take down tons of opponents with a variety of weapons and gadgets. But what’s the point of being the top kill leader after the match and what happens to your achievements when the beta ends? Can you take your unlocked titles and goodies with you when the release happens?

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to keep your progress after the beta ends. The new game will start from scratch for each of you when it is released on October 28th. However, as an attentive beta player, you already know which guns and gadgets are particularly worthwhile and can proceed in a more targeted manner when unlocking them.

And then the developers promised that all beta participants will receive rewards. A total of ten different rewards – including two weapon blueprints and an operator skin – can be earned during either or both beta weekends.

These items can be equipped in the beta once you unlock them. These special rewards can only be unlocked during the beta itself.

This is the content of the beta

The developers have not yet fully revealed what exactly can be found in the beta. However, various maps in the regular 6vs6 multiplayer mode have been confirmed. You get a colorful mix of well-known maps and completely new locations. Including the already previously acclaimed Map Marina Bay Grand Prixwhich lets you fight on a Formula 1 circuit.

The developers don’t want to reveal exactly what’s in store for you right now. The new Warzone, the Battle Royale standalone for Call of Duty, will not be available in the Modern Warfare II beta.

That’s what crossplay is all about

Due to an exclusive contract between Activision and Sony, the beta will initially only take place on the PlayStation. From September 22nd, the Xbox and the PC will also be added.

You can all play together until the end of the beta on September 26th, whether you play on PlayStation, Xbox or PC: All fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II can now blast each other to their heart’s content and spectacularly in the blow up.
