Overwatch 2 explains the Battle Pass, store, hero unlocks and more

Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4, ushering in a new era for the franchise. Today we’re excited to talk about the new free play system, the introduction of nine-week seasons, and our new support hero! Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s coming to Overwatch 2, and head over to playoverwatch to read the full Battle Pass blog and FAQ.

Kiriko supports her team with smooth healing, deadly accuracy, and fluid mobility. It will be available immediately to Overwatch 1 owners through the Foundation Pack and will debut in the free and Premium Battle Pass for new players.

Next week we will reveal more details about its origin, but until then check out the new merchandise and check out its gameplay.

Overwatch 2 New Season Model

Overwatch 2 is moving to a seasonal model where we plan to bring new content to the game every nine weeks in the form of new heroes, maps, game modes, premium cosmetics, and more.

The Season One Battle Pass will include the following free unlockable rewards across 20 tiers spread across the 80+ total tiers:

  • New support hero, Kiriko (instant unlock for Overwatch 1 players; available in free and Premium Battle Pass for new players)
  • 2 epic skins
  • 1 Weapon Charm
  • 2 Memories
  • 1 Intro for “Move of the Game”
  • 14 additional items (emotes, victory poses, ID cards, sprays, player icons, etc.)
  • Prestige Level Titles (8 titles that can only be obtained until the Battle Pass is completed)

The Season One Premium Battle Pass includes, in addition to all the free rewards above, the following unlockable rewards:

  • Immediate access to Kiriko
  • 20% XP boost on Battle Pass

  • 5 Legendary Skins and 1 Epic Skin
  • 3 Intros for “Move of the Game”
  • 4 Weapon Charm
  • 3 gestures
  • 3 Memories
