Final Fantasy 14 set to continue coming to Xbox – update from Phil Spencer

Final Fantasy 14: Patch 6.21 brings changes to the epic Pandæmonium raid (1)

Update September 18, 2022:
New year, new “update” to bring Final Fantasy 14 to Xbox consoles. Those responsible at Microsoft and Square Enix have had plans for this since 2019. Last year it was game director Naoki Yoshida who reassured that the negotiations would continue (see original message), in 2022 it will be Phil Spencer’s turn.

The Team Xbox boss used the Tokyo Games Show to visit Japan, and it was there that he was asked if he remembered what he said in 2019? “The observant among you will have noticed that one Final Fantasy is missing from our list: Part 14. I’ve been dedicated to bringing 14 to Xbox with Yoshida. Even if there’s no news about it today there, you can be sure that we are working hard towards this goal.”

Spencer’s reply, via Eurogamer: “Hahaha, yeah I said that. Of course we haven’t given up yet. This is Microsoft’s and Square Enix’s commitment to gaming fans, and we will continue to coordinate.” We are already looking forward to the statement next year!

Original report from October 19, 2021:
It’s a little strange: Since 2019 we already know that there are plans from Microsoft and Square Enix to launch the popular online role-playing game Final Fantasy 14 (buy now €21.99) also to be published for Xbox consoles. After all, the MMORPG has been available on PC and Playstation for more than eight years. The last update came then in summer 2020 (!): Yes, the thing is not off the table yet, the negotiations are ongoing.

And how does it look now, more than a year later? So, versus Easy Allies FF14 game director Naoki Yoshida explained: “I feel bad because I have to tell you the same thing every time, but negotiations with Microsoft are ongoing and I feel the talks are being conducted in a very positive way. I don’t want to tell you now that we don’t have an Xbox version rather I hope to present all players with some kind of update very soon.
