LoL: CEO of G2 celebrates with Andrew Tate - Even his favorite Perkz thinks it's really bad

32-year-old Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez is the CEO of G2, one of the most important esports teams in Europe overall, dominant in European League of Legends. The former LoL midlaner is known for his loud and hot-blooded demeanor: he recently posted a video on Twitter of him partying with Andrew Tate. For this he has to listen to a lot of criticism, also from his own favorite player Perkz.

What did Ocelote do? The CEO of G2 posted a tweet on the afternoon of September 17th that read: “Yesterday we celebrated the G2 World Championship”:

  • On the tweet, some people are holding up bottles of sparklers
  • Andrew Tate can be seen driving over the revelers – along with his brother Tristan

Andrew Tate – Human trafficking allegations

Why is Andrew Tate such a difficult character? Former kickboxer Andrew Tate has become one of the notorious figures on the internet in recent months, mostly for his views and behavior towards women. His behavior and views are considered by many to be misogynistic.

The Guardian writes about August 6 (via theguardian):

Andrew Tate says women belong in the home, can’t drive, are man’s property. He also thinks rape victims should take responsibility for the attacks […]

What most people find the worst is that he said in a YouTube video that he decided to move to Romania because there he was less likely to be prosecuted for rape.

In April 2022, his home in Romania was searched by police after the US embassy reported that an American woman might be being held there. The investigation was later expanded to include human trafficking. The investigation is still unsuccessful – Tate denies allegations.

Meanwhile, Andrew Tate has been banned from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok – he deleted the Twitch channel himself.

Twitter users accuse G2 of undermining their own values

What are the criticisms of Ocelote? The video of the celebration is controversial. Users say:

  • Weird hanging out with a known abuser, to be honest. Matches the “G2” brand; or?
  • Wait a minute, Carlos, you’re joking, aren’t you? You’re way better than that, aren’t you?
  • A user on Twitter tagged all the major brands G2 works with and asked if they too support “misogyny”? Partners include BMW, Logitech, Red Bull, Adidas and many more.

In a nod to G2 announcing an all-women team, people are asking: does the 2 in G2 stand for “double standards?”

However, some users protect Ocelote: after all, Tate has not yet been legally convicted.

What’s the criticism of Perkz? The player Perkz was the face of G2 in LoL for years and was always considered a kind of “foster son” of Ocelote. Perkz also criticized G2’s appearance on Twitter with a “puke” smiley and a meme (via perk).

When asked that he should go to G2 and lead the company as CEO, Perkz replies: He was already there, would have won 9 titles, poached 7 players and made G2 profitable on his own.

How does Ocelote react? He doesn’t want to know anything about the criticism. He says: There he draws a line. He celebrates who he wants to celebrate with.
