The Fortnite servers are live again. After players had to wait more than 5 hours, they can now start the brand new Season 4 of the Battle Royale.

Update from 09/18/2022, 1:20 p.m: The Fortnite servers are live again. The wait is finally over. After more than 5 hours of downtime, Season 4 in Fortnite has finally seen the light of day. The release took longer than usual. With over 5 hours of downtime, Epic Games increased the maintenance work time again. Hopefully Fortnite Season 4 itself won’t be a late bloomer either.

Update from 09/18/2022, 1:00 p.m: Even an hour after the assumed start time at 12 p.m., the Fortnite servers are still offline. In the meantime, however, it can be assumed that the servers could go back online at any time. The servers have now been offline for 5 hours and the players are getting more and more impatient.

Update from 09/18/2022, 12:00 p.m.: Is it now? The assumed start for Fortnite Season 4 is at 12:00 p.m. German time. However, the servers are still offline and the game is down. We are following a large number of streamers all over the world for you at the same time. But nothing seems to have changed with any of them so far.

However, the interest in the new update is apparently huge. Without even seeing a second of gameplay, more than 170,000 people are currently cavorting on Fortnite twitch streams at the same time. The queues are also getting longer.

Update from 09/18/2022, 11:12 a.m.: Something’s going on. Fortnite itself is apparently still down, but waiting fans are already being put in a queue. But it only partially lives up to its name. Because even if you make it to number 1 in the queue: you still can’t play Fortnite. You will simply be requeued.

Even so, the queues are already a sign that the servers may soon be back online for the launch of Fortnite Season 4. You will still have to be patient though. Also, stay tuned: update the login process regularly so that when it really kicks off you don’t end up at the end of the actual queue.

Update from 09/18/2022, 10:56 a.m.: Fortnite servers still down. Even if nothing is currently happening in the game or on the usual Fortnite insider channels, it is quite possible that Epic Games will put the servers back online at 11:00 a.m. German time. With the update to Chapter 3 Season 3, fans had to wait until a whopping 1:38 p.m. before they could play again.

However, we do not assume that Fortnite will be down for so long with the new update. After all, the changes to the battle royale this time around aren’t quite as drastic as they were last season opener. This time, not nearly as much has happened on the Fortnite Season 4 map as before, which suggests that we can start the new season much earlier this time.

Fortnite down for the start of Season 4: when will the servers be back online?

Update from 09/18/2022, 10:05 a.m.: Fortnite still down. After the servers went offline at 08:00 sharp this morning, everything is still going according to plan. In the last few seasons, it almost always took until 12:00 noon for Epic Games to release the Battle Royale for play again. We assume that you will have to wait around two hours until Fortnite is online again.

At the start of the update, Epic Games also presented the Fortnite Season 4 Battle Pass in a trailer. Not all new skins, emotes and dances are known yet, but some information can already be drawn from the short clip. We’ll keep you updated on the new Battle Pass content in our overview article.

Update from 09/18/2022, 09:35 am: Something is happening in Fortnite. The servers remain offline. However, it seems that the update for Chapter 3 Season 4 is now at least available for download. In order to start the new season on time and with everyone else, you should download the 8.9 GB (PS5) update beforehand.

  • This is how much storage space the Season 4 update in Fortnite needs
  • PS5: 8.9GB
  • Xbox Series X/S: 11.5GB
  • PC: 6.48GB

Fortnite: servers are down – you can probably play online again at this time

First report from 09/17/2022: Cary, North Carolina – The lights are out and not a soul is around. The Fortnite servers are currently down. The reason for this is Season 4 Chapter 3, which will be released on September 18th. Developer Epic Games is currently working flat out on the implementation of all changes in the Battle Royale. The Fortnite server will be offline for a few hours. We’ll show you when the gloom is over and you can play Fortnite Season Chapter 3.

Fortnite servers are down: Currently Fortnite will not start. None of the Battle Royale modes are available. This is a usual procedure on the part of Epic Games when a new Fortnite season is released. The servers have been down since 8 a.m. However, there is hope for improvement.

  • Expected schedule for Fortnite Season 4 Chapter 3
  • Time: 8 a.m – Cinematic and Battle Pass trailers will be released
  • Time: 8 a.m – The Fortnite servers are going offline
  • Time: 8am-12pm: Fortnite is not playable
  • Time: 12 p.m – Fortnite Season 4 Chapter 3 is live and playable

With the publication of Season 4 trailer Fortnite went offline at the same time. If you look at the past seasons, this server condition of Fortnite should not last too long. After Season 3, Fortnite were offline for a total of around 4 hours. It is quite possible that this also applies to Season 4 today. We expect the Fortnite servers to be up at the latest 12 o’clock are online again. Possibly with a new first-person perspective.

Fortnite: For this reason the servers are down – innovations in gameplay and shop

Reason for downtime: The reason you’re missing out on Fortnite right now is due to gameplay and store changes. Not only are skins being added in general, but a new Fortnite Battle Pass will also see the light of day for Season 4. In terms of gameplay, among other things, airplanes should celebrate their comeback. There will probably not be a new live event.
