Redwood City – The Sims 4 has been around for a few years, but can still look forward to a large fan base. The fan base could soon grow even more, as developer Maxis, based in Redwood City, has great news for all Sims fans and those who want to become one. Sims 4 comes free on all platforms – then the life simulation appears as Free2Play

Then Sims 4 becomes Free2Play: On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, there was all sorts of news for gamers. Nintendo held a Direct and finally announced a release date for the next Zelda. You can find out where you can pre-order Zelda: Tears of Kingdom in our article. There was also new information from Sony on Wednesday, as a new State of Play was shown. In it, fans were treated to a brutal gameplay trailer for God of War Ragnarök.

In addition to Nintendo and Sony, Maxis and Electronic Arts also shared new information about their games on September 14th. The base game of “The Sims 4” will be available for free on all platforms from October 18, 2022. The Free2Play will then appear for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, as well as for Mac and PC.

Bonus for buyers: Anyone who has already bought the game or buys it by October 17, 2022 at the latest will receive a small bonus. Buyers will receive the desert oasis set, which has been available since September 14, 2022.

The Desert Oasis Set lets Sims relax in their modern oasis with luxurious indoor and outdoor furnishings inspired by the natural landscape of the southwestern desert and materials like stone and wood

Sims 4 becomes Free2Play – fans hope for an early successor

Developer is already working on the successor: The Sims 4 was released on September 4th, 2014 and is already a few years old. Fans are therefore right to ask when the successor, the supposed “Sims 5” will finally appear. In the Sims 4 Free2Play announcement, the Redwood City developer has a succinct answer to that question: “The team is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful experiences for players and will continue to develop and release packs, kits and Sims Delivery Express drops for the foreseeable future.”

There should also be a “Behind the Sims Summit” live stream on October 18, 2022. There, fans should get more information about what is planned for the “The Sims” franchise in the future. Perhaps there will finally be an announcement for The Sims 5.
