Torture for Rockstar continues: After the leak at GTA 6, the leaker now wants money – “Only 5-digit offers”

After a heavy leak at GTA 6, the leaker stated that he had more material about the game, including the current long-running favorite GTA 5 / Online. He demands that developer Rockstar get in touch with him. So that he doesn’t leak any more, he wants at least a five-digit sum.

For many years there were no real or just mini leaks of the upcoming action hit Grand Theft Auto 6. On Sunday, September 18th, however, a bombshell bursts: a fat leak with over 90 videos directly from development – over an hour of material .

The big leak from GTA 6 is already video game history.

However, the leaker is not finished yet. The person has made it clear that there are more arrows in the quiver. Including source code for GTA 6, but also for the currently very successful GTA 5 and the service part GTA Online. The ordeal for developers at Rockstar continues.

GTA 6: Leaker goes all out

What happened after the leak? It took a few hours, but then the first strikes for copyright infringement came. Developer Rockstar has the material shown blocked, YouTube videos go offline everywhere on the Internet, pictures can no longer be accessed on Twitter.

Along with confirmation from industry insider Jason Schreier (via twitter.com) many players interpret this as a “certificate of authenticity” for the leaks.

Industry expert “Tom Henderson” has also taken on the case – himself known for some leaks in Call of Duty and Battlefield. He shows that the leaker hasn’t had enough. The attention is probably not enough for him (via twitter.com).

So the leaker changed his original post to “GTAForums” and asked developer Rockstar to get in touch with him. He could leak more, but would be dissuaded for the appropriate consideration.

In a Telegram group, the leaker wrote: “The complete source code and assets for GTA 5 are available, along with some documents for GTA 6. Message me privately. GTA 6 is currently not for sale. Only 5-digit offers”.

The hacker has now said that he will sell GTA 5’s source code and assets and will not accept any offers under 5 figures.

The situation is tricky. The leaker does not reveal his identity and there are already many accounts and users posing as the leaker. It is said that 100,000 dollars have already flowed, but to a user who only pretended to be the leaker (via twitter.com).

Why is the leaker asking for such a large sum? Even if it is currently “only” the source code of GTA 5 – if the leaker actually has the data, it would be another blow for those responsible at Rockstar.

GTA 5 and GTA Online continue to be extremely successful, bringing the developer a lot of money. The complete source code would open the door for hackers and the Rockstar cash cow might even be on the verge of an end. It’s about a lot of money and the leaker is aware of that.

A difficult situation for everyone involved. The fact that the leaker is now also demanding money in a media-effective manner makes everything even more confusing and opaque. Free riders are popping up everywhere, hoping for a piece of the cake.
