news
In various printers from the manufacturer HP were partly critical vulnerabilities discovered. That comes from one Security Alert of the company. Some of the vulnerabilities should even make it possible for potential attackers to smuggle malicious code into the system.
These are mainly the security gaps with the designation CVE-2022-28721 and CVE-2022-28722that have been classified as “critical”. These were found in over 40 different models of HP’s inkjet series, LaserJet Pro and PageWide Pro printers.
At the time of the report, HP did not provide more detailed information on how the vulnerabilities came about. All that is known so far is that gaps were discovered in a buffer flow of the models mentioned. These could be exploited to inject malicious code and/or execute.
Firmware updates have already been made available for the affected printer devices from HP, which are intended to eliminate all vulnerabilities. The company strongly recommends installing the new firmware. As always, the latest drivers from HP are available on the official site ready.
