CoD: Modern Warfare 2 – The content for the second beta weekend is known

from Oliver Jaeger
A week ago, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta kicked off exclusively for PlayStation players, and now Infinity Ward has announced the content for the second weekend. These affect maps, modes, gameplay, perks, audio, weapon tuning and the user interface.

The beta phase for the next entry in the Call of Duty shooter series, Modern Warfare 2 (2022), has been in full swing since last weekend. So far, players on Sony’s Playstation 4 and 5 consoles have had priority for the trial period. This weekend, players on Xbox consoles and PC can also join the line of fire.

Content for beta week 2

MW2 developer Infinity Ward has now provided a preview of the content for the next beta weekend. This includes two new maps (Sariff Bay and Sa’id), new modes and some changes, as Infinity Ward writes on its website. Ground War returns for 32v32 battles with new vehicles and dynamic combat. In addition, the new team deathmatch mode “Invasion” will be introduced. Two teams of 20 players compete against 20 AI units. The features of Invasion should include large maps as well as ground and air vehicles. Additionally, Third Person Moshpit returns for the second beta weekend.

Infinity Ward has also made changes to the gameplay: players should now be more visible so that enemies can be targeted more easily. Furthermore, the perk rate will remain unchanged at the start of the beta weekend, but will be increased drastically once all platforms are open. The following list shows what has changed in the audio, weapon tuning and user interface:

Audio:

  • Decreased the overall distance from which you can hear footsteps from enemies and allies.
  • Mixed the volume of local and non-local player slide sounds to better match other movements.
  • Added an equalizer to soften allies’ footsteps versus enemies’ footsteps, allowing enemy audio to be heard more clearly.
  • Adjusted the mix presets – specifically the ambient sound mix, making the kicks a little less pronounced.

Weapon Tuning:

  • FTAC Recon
    • Reduced damage on full auto.
    • Increased recoil on full auto.
    • Slight reduction in damage from headshots.

User interface:

  • We fixed a number of UX bugs, including issues with the Gunsmith and leveling up. The maximum level for the second weekend is level 30. If you played the first weekend, your progress should carry over to the second weekend.
  • We’re also working on a number of UI and UX improvements for launch.

Finally, Infinity Ward mentions that there are a few other tweaks, edits, and tweaks in the works for the release. In line with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta, AMD also released its Radeon Adrenaline driver, version 22.9.1, which provides beta support for the unreleased game.
