GTA 6 leak: hackers found and arrested – a teenager!
This month both Uber and Rockstar Games experienced network intrusions by unauthorized persons. At Rockstar, this caused a leak of the Grand Theft Auto 6 in development, which quickly made the rounds all over the internet. A user named Teapotuberhacker, who also claimed that he was also responsible for the hack attack against Uber, blamed the leak. Uber was already cooperating with the FBI on the matter, and the attack was soon blamed on the LAPSUS$ group.
Teenager arrested in relation to GTA 6 leak
The group has been behind attacks on Microsoft, Nvidia, and Samsung, which is why a couple of UK teenagers have been arrested here. As BBC now reported just today a 17-year-old was taken into custody in the UK in relation to the recent GTA 6 leaks. It is currently assumed that the person has connections with LAPSUS$, official details have not yet been announced.
Just like Uber, Rockstar Games also cooperated with the FBI to get to the bottom of the hacking attack. Since the hacker himself has already stated that he was also behind the attack on Uber, it is quite possible that LAPSUS$ was also involved in the GTA 6 leak.
There have been some developments in the last few days around the leak to Rockstar’s upcoming game. Gamers may not have been particularly keen on the visuals of the featured footage, with a few users even claiming that this is the first aspect to be completed for any video game. Out of solidarity, other development studios showed their unfinished games to refute this claim. Also, some dedicated players already put together the map from GTA 6 using Google Earth and Microsoft Paint. At least, according to Rockstar Games, the leak should not have any impact on the development time of Grand Theft Auto 6.
