Metal Hellsinger – The Quarter Hour – video
teasers
If you thought that Doom was the pinnacle of metal shooters, the Stockholm studio The Outsiders wants to teach you otherwise. Dennis reveals why. And breaks down whether the project succeeds.
The history of music is peppered with milestones and interesting developments. Subgenres emerge from larger currents, which sometimes like to outgrow their fathers. That may not be entirely the case with Metal, but there’s no denying that the electro-guitar-heavy gait is at least on par with Rock. This is also due to the enormous range, whether heavy metal, black, thrash, symphonic, industrial, nu and all the other subtypes, everyone will find their drawer here.
Metal has also had an influence on video games, the most prominent example being the doom– be in line. Makes sense too: fast banging just fits perfectly with fast riffs. But the Stockholm developers of The Outsiders want more. Much more. So they have for their rhythm shooter Metal – Hellsinger bought some metal greats and want you to send demons back to hell to the beat.
How exactly this approach is supposed to work, which musicians are involved and how well Hellsinger actually plays when you have the tact of a potato, Dennis answers all these questions in this issue of the quarter hour. Incidentally, he played on a PS5, in contrast to his preview, which he played on the PC with a mouse and keyboard.
