Apple Watch Ultra in the endurance test against falls, nails and hammer blows

Sony unveils new PS5 Pro controller DualSense Edge

How strong is the Apple Watch Ultra’s sapphire crystal really? A YouTuber wanted to find out and subjected the new Apple smartwatch to the ultimate endurance test – including a drop test and hammer blows.

TechRax has struck again – literally. The YouTuber, known for his demolitions, has taken on the new Apple Watch Ultra to test how robust the smartwatch really is. The watch is not only in a robust titanium case, it is also protected by a flat sapphire crystal on the front, according to the manufacturer.

Apple Watch Ultra drop test

In a first test, the Apple Watch has to prove that falls don’t bother you. So he dropped her from a height of around 1.20 meters onto a concrete floor. While the display of the very first Apple Watch from 2015 broke immediately, the fall of the current Apple Watch Ultra makes little difference. The display remains intact, only the titanium frame shows minimal scratches.

Display breaks – but only after the table

So the YouTuber brings out the heavier guns. He puts the Apple Watch Ultra in a nail storage box and gives it a good shake. But even this endurance test makes little difference to the smartwatch. Only the bracelet gets a little dirty from the dirty nails.

In a final test, TechRax lets the Apple Watch Ultra compete against a hammer – and thinks the smartwatch has little chance. However, it lasts much longer than expected. The first hammer blows don’t bother her at all, the display shows minimal scratches, but remains intact and functional. Only after the twelfth hit – and after the table on which the test takes place has already broken – does the display of the Apple Watch Ultra say goodbye. The clock goes off and can no longer be switched on.

And yet: Even the destructive YouTuber would not have expected her to have so much stamina.
