Onimusha 3: Netflix plans anime adaptation

In the absence of a new game from the iconic series, Netflix has jumped to the fans’ side and is currently developing an anime based on the source material. Now the first pictures can be admired.

Trash and horror specialist Takashi Miike, who was able to gain some experience in the implementation of game conversions with the adaptation of Sega’s first Yakuza game, serves as co-director. He will be assisted by Shinya Sugai from the anime studio Sublimation, which has previously been commissioned to adapt Dragon’s Dogma to anime.

Best Lead Actor

The main character of the Onimusha game series, Miyamoto Musashi, is portrayed in the anime by the late actor Toshiro Mifune. Older semesters already know the mimes from masterpieces such as The Seven Samurai or the once popular TV series Shogun.

In the first pictures of the Netflix adaptation, it is clear to see that the main character in the new series is significantly older than in the games and is actually very reminiscent of Mifune. There are no exact details about the series yet, but fans can assume that the anime show will be quite bloody. In addition, the magical Oni Gauntlet combat glove should also be used, with which the main character will face the Genma demons who have regained their strength.

It is not yet known exactly when the Onimusha Netflix series will start, with a bit of luck it will start at the end of 2023.
