Ubisoft Postpones The Pirate MMO They Keep Postponing For The 5th Time - "Anyone Still Want To Play This?"

The pirate MMO “Skull and Bones” promises sea battles in the style of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. But Ubisoft is constantly postponing the game. Now the game has been postponed a fifth time. The release was originally planned for 2018, most recently it was for 2022, the current launch date is now March 2023. Players doubt whether the game will ever appear.

Skull and Bones was first announced in 2016. The Promise: A standalone version of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag naval battles. That struck a chord with many players at the time, because many remembered the gripping sea battles.

It’s been 6 years now and the game has been postponed a number of times. At the Ubisoft Forward in September 2022, an in-house trade fair by publisher Ubisoft, Skull and Bones had been promised for the end of 2022.

But nothing will come of it again. A new release date is March 2023, but many players are slowly wondering if the game will ever appear.

The latest Skull & Bones trailer was shown at Ubisoft Forward in September:

“Will anyone still play that?”

How do interested players react? The reactions are divided. Some shrug their shoulders and say it doesn’t matter if they have to wait another six months after so many years.

Many fear that a game that is constantly being postponed simply cannot be good. Because “Black Flag” is now almost 10 years old and was released on October 29, 2013 (via twitter.com).

Ubisoft has been developing pirate MMO for 5 years, constantly changing content

Ubisoft is said to have been carried away by the hype surrounding naval combat (via twitter.com). Many fans had demanded a game that would only revolve around such action-packed sea battles. At the beginning it was explained that Skull and Bones should provide content for at least 15 years.

But after the first announcement, it was surprisingly quiet about the pirate MMO. Ubisoft is said to have changed a lot in the background. The focus should first be on PvP battles, meanwhile PvP should only be an optional component of the final game.

The best Assassin’s Creed finally gets the multiplayer it deserves – Skull & Bones lures with fat loot

The thought that Ubisoft had announced a TV series for its pirate MMO seems particularly absurd. Since the presentation in 2019, however, not much has been heard of this series, let alone seen.

And with the game constantly shifting, it’s questionable whether Ubisoft would want to put more money into this franchise if “Skull & Bones” doesn’t really want to ignite internally:
