Players say Fortnite is a dead game – Being trolled by Epic with new skin

Fortnite Checkered Past Pack Dead Game Skin

Have you ever seen those comments on social media that keep claiming a game is dead? Fortnite is repeatedly confronted with such statements and is now responding with a skin.

Season 4 Chapter 3 has been running in Fortnite since September 18 and, as usual for the Battle Royal shooter, there are some new skins. Some of these are part of the Season 4 Battle Pass, which players call one of the worst Battle Passes. You can buy other of them with the so-called V-Bucks. Among them is a new skin that addresses very specific comments from players.

What is this skin: The new skin in Fortnite is part of the “Checkered Past” pack. The character skin is black with checkerboard accents. “Dead Game” is written on the front of the t-shirt.

As can be seen from the official presentation via Twitter, the “Checkered Past” package should cost 600 V-Bucks. You can see what the skin looks like and what is included in the following picture:

Why is there this skin? Fortnite is a dead game, it is said again and again on social networks and especially on Twitter. If you’ve ever looked at the comments below a Fortnite post, chances are you’ve seen the phrase “Dead Game” somewhere.

When presenting the skin via Twitter, the official Fortnite account writes:

  • “*reads comments, *designs outfit, Result: Checkered Past Pack.”

Epic Games thus confirms that the skin is based on the “Dead Game” comments.

Why do players write “Dead Game”? Again and again, players post the two words that confirm Fortnite’s death under the shooter’s Twitter posts. This is not always a serious claim, it is also often made as a joke. But rarely is there a deeper justification or constructive criticism behind said comments.

Players very often post the words without providing any evidence to back up the statement. You can also see this in the following examples, which can not only be found under official Fortnite posts:

  • “Fortnite is an L. It’s a dead game” (via Twitter)
  • “Dead Game” – As a comment on the announcement of the “Fortnite Discord Quests” (via Twitter)
  • “Dead Game, We’re Playing Roblox Now” (via Twitter)
  • “Dead Game” – As a comment on a YouTuber’s post (via Twitter)

Of course, Fortnite is no exception. It is quite possible that you have read or heard similar comments on other games. It doesn’t matter if you play League of Legends, CS:GO, Rainbow Six: Siege, Apex Legends or another big game. Comments of this nature can appear anywhere.
