That Electronic Arts, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force (among others Dynasty Warriors) are working on a new title – a “unique take on the hunting genre” – has been known for some time. Recently, both more details too Wild Hearts as well as a first trailer released; an extended gameplay recording is announced for October 5th.

The two-and-a-half-minute video features those “huge creatures imbued with the power of nature” called Kemono, which you must hunt down. In addition to the abilities of your own character (you can see attacks with swords), you can use an “ancient technology” with Karakuri, which allows you to set up small towers at lightning speed, which in turn fire projectiles or offer you other support. Yosuke HayashiExecutive Vice President at Koei Tecmo Games, continues:

[Wir wollen] not only showing the evolution, merging, and real-world threat of Kemono, but also creating a game that puts crafting at the heart of the experience, redefining what’s possible in a hunting game. We’ve put a lot of effort into designing our karakuri to fit into the battles, and we look forward to players using these powerful mechanics to fight giant beasts and traverse the world.

The action title is set in feudal Japan, the action takes place in the Azuma region, devastated by the once peaceful beasts. The creatures come in different sizes and abilities, some of the specimens – like the Kingtusk Boar or the Wolf Deathstalker – can be seen in the trailer.

You can play Wild Hearts alone or with up to two other players in cooperative mode (also using the crossplay feature). In addition to Japanese and English voiceovers, there will also be a German version. Wild Hearts should be available in stores for 69.99 euros from February 17, 2023 for Windows (Steam, Origin and Epic Game Store) as well as for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
