In the form of the 8Pack Supernova MK2, Caseking offers a gaming PC that offers an insane hardware combination at an absurd price. The PC with two RTX 3090 graphics cards and a Threadripper CPU is sold for 20,000 euros.

If you buy a new PC, the price usually ranges in the three-digit to low four-digit range. Like the gaming PC 8Pack Supernova MK2 shows, but you can also spend a lot more: Caseking will do this offered for 20,000 euros. That high price tag is advertised with expensive, high-end hardware fine-tuned by overclocker Ian “8Pack” Parry.

Extreme hardware at an extreme price

According to the product page of the Supernova MK2, the gaming PC relies on the Ryzen Threadripper Pro W5995WX. The system thus has 64 Zen 3 cores that have been significantly overclocked. Normally the CPU runs at a base clock of 2.7 GHz, but once the system is assembled after an order, 8Pack thrashes the processor up to 4.0 GHz. At the same time, the boost clock increases from 4.5 to 4.75 GHz.

As a mainboard, the gaming PC relies on this Asrock Creator WRX80the most expensive Threadripper motherboard in the PCGH price comparison. There is also space for eight RAM modules, each with 32 GB of memory, and two Geforce RTX 3090 graphics cards. Both models work together in SLI and thus promise a lot of gaming performance – however, the existence of the RTX 3090 Ti would have left room for improvement.

Even apart from the computing hardware, the 8Pack Supernova MK2 relies on expensive components. Among other things, we are talking about two custom water cooling systems for the processor and graphics cards. In addition, the gaming PC should have two M.2 SSDs and one SATA SSD, each with 4 TB of storage and two hard drives with 14 TB of storage. The whole thing is installed in one LianLi DX888WXand power is supplied via a Super Flower Leadex 80 PLUS Platinum in the 8-pack edition and with 2,000 watts.

At the latest with the power supply unit, it should be clear that not only the purchase of the system, but also the operation is very expensive due to the built-in hardware. And that’s not all: If you’re crazy enough to spend such sums on a gaming PC, you can have additional hardware installed for an extra charge. For example, the PC is offered with up to four RTX 3090 graphics cards – even if there is hardly a game that can make good use of them.
