Activision Blizzard: Microsoft submits takeover to EU competition authority

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Microsoft has submitted its Activision Blizzard acquisition case to the EU competition authority.

Microsoft has now officially submitted its case to the European Commission for the planned takeover of Activision Blizzard.

The European competition authority has already confirmed the filing and set a deadline of November 8th to either approve the deal, which is worth around 68.7 billion dollars, or to submit a further phase of the investigation at the next instance.

The Commission is currently using the time until the deadline to analyze the planned takeover in a first phase and to determine whether this would significantly restrict competition in the market or increase prices for customers.

If the concerns cannot be resolved, the investigation moves to the second phase to examine the impact.
