The last big Nintendo Direct wasn’t that long ago, and the announcement for the next show has already been made. As Nintendo has announced, there will be a new Direct edition later this week, which will focus on the famous plumber Mario. However, not in connection with a (new) game.

The most important facts about the upcoming Direct:

  • Length: Not yet known

The Direct will be streamed live as usual, you can watch it on the Official Nintendo Youtube Channel pursue.

What’s on the Nintendo Direct?

Once again: NO games, that’s what Nintendo officially announced when it was announced. Instead, there’s the world premiere of the first trailer for the upcoming Mario movie.

It is a computer-animated film adaptation by Universal Pictures and Illumination. Nothing is known about the story yet, but that numerous well-known actors* lend their voices to the main characters. For example, Chris Pratt can be heard as Mario and Jack Black voices villain Bowser.

The film’s first poster was also unveiled as part of the Direct announcement. It shows Mario with numerous elements known from the games, including different colored Toads and Princess Peach’s castle:

Nintendo left it open whether further information about the film will be announced apart from the trailer. It is conceivable that the final release date of the film in Europe will also be revealed at the Direct. So far, this has only been fixed for the USA (April 7, 2023) and Japan (April 28, 2023).

Last Nintendo Direct in September

The last game-centric Direct was held by Nintendo in September 2022. And there was a lot on offer, because, among other things, a new Fire Emblem was announced with a trailer and the final release date for the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was revealed.
