Overwatch 2 servers have been affected by a “massive” Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on the day of the game’s launch.

That’s according to Blizzard president Mike Ybarra, who said Tuesday that the company is doing everything it can to resolve issues that are preventing players from accessing the game.

“Teams are working hard on server issues with Overwatch 2”he tweeted. “We are honored by the excitement of the players and will continue to focus on the problems and making the players have fun! Thank you for your patience.

“Unfortunately, we are experiencing a massive DDoS attack on our servers,” Ybarra added. “Teams are working hard to mitigate/manage. This is causing a lot of drop/connection issues.”

An in-game message presented to affected players reads: “We are aware of some players encountering an unexpected server error message when trying to log in. This is being actively worked on. Thank you for your patience.”

Overwatch 2 launched today in Early Access as a free-to-play title for PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. You can read our review on PC by following this link.
