FIFA 23: Bug Brings Women Into Careers, Players Discuss – Should This Be A Feature?

Normally teams in FIFA 23 career mode cannot sign and field women. However, an exception seems to have been found for one player.

What is this bug? The user “theOUTCOME3” on the FIFA subreddit reports that there appears to have been an interesting bug in his career mode (via reddit).

After the start of the third season, the user stated that some teams were now fielding women alongside their male teammates and could also be signed on the transfer market.

In screenshots, the user shared how women and men stand together on the pitch, as well as the career values ​​​​of the player Lotte Wubben-Moy. However, he also commented that the score was now apparently broken and he would not carry over to the next season.

How exactly the bug came about is still unclear. But the result caused a discussion among players.

Are women’s teams missing in FIFA 23 career mode?

In FIFA 23 there are a few innovations in women’s football. Among others, Sam Kerr can be seen on the cover, and women’s first club teams were also introduced.

For example, the English league Barclays WSL and the French D1 Arkema are represented in the game. Players can be played in Kick-off, Online Season, Co-op Season, Online Friendlies, and Tournament modes, among others. In Volta and Pro Clubs women have been allowed to play together with men for a long time.

Meanwhile, the women do not appear in career mode – just as little as in Ultimate Team. Due to the bug, players are now discussing on reddit whether women should be playable in career mode.

Some support the idea and suggest that the option should be included in career mode. On the downside, some feel that this option would disrupt the immersion, since men and women don’t play together in the professional leagues in real life either (via reddit).

Some players meanwhile suggest enabling the option, but not specifying it – for example, via a setting option:

• “I think that would be a fun option for career mode, honestly. But as an option, not as a glitch.” (via reddit).
• “I wish that was a feature because if I can play with Ted Lasso and the AFC Richmond players then I sure could use Sam Kerr and Beth Mead,” commented another (via reddit).

With AFC Richmond, a fantasy team from a TV series is playable in FIFA 23 – including characters from the series.
