Priest Simulator: Xbox release likely in 2023

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Priest Simulator is expected to be released in 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Priest Simulator, a mockumentary action game with sandbox shooter and renovator elements, is expected to come to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with a potential release date to be determined at a later date.

Set in a grotesquely absurd world, the title puts players in the role of an unusual vampire priest who must tend to his flock and face off against the “Shatanists”. On October 6th this year, Priest Simulator will make its debut on PC in Early Access. A release for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles is also planned.

The game was developed by the Polish studio Asmodev, which has already released three smaller titles – Infernal Radiation, Ultimate Summer and Priest Simulator: Heavy Duty. The publisher is Ultimate Games SA

Priest Simulator is a single-player first-person game that combines very different genres (including FPS, Hack ‘n’ Slash, Mockumentary, Simulator, Renovator and Sandbox).

In this unusual production, the player takes on the role of Orlok, a cunning vampire who accidentally becomes a priest in the village of San de Ville. Gameplay in Priest Simulator is varied and includes fighting “Shatanists”, caring for the faithful and exploring the village and its surroundings.

The game is also packed with features like performing exorcisms, administering sacraments, and renovating the church. The developers have also prepared dubbings (in English and Polish).

“Priest Simulator is the result of years of experimentation and finding our style, but luckily we made it in time. We are Asmodev and we make mockumentaries,” says Michał Jodłowiec, one of the game’s developers.

On the release date of Early Access (Steam Early Access), the game will feature 17 unique story missions. The title is expected to expand significantly over the next four to eight months. Studio Asmodev not only promises new missions and mechanics, but also numerous improvements and additional language versions.

“The game will come with a full main story, but the sandbox nature of the project offers ample opportunity to expand it with additional story-driven side quests, locations, and mechanics. We hope to expand the game in these specific aspects while responding to player feedback,” explains Patryk Bąk, one of the game’s developers.

Prior to the game’s release, a free standalone chapter called Priest Simulator: Heavy Duty was released last year. The title has received “overwhelmingly positive” reviews – the percentage of positive reviews on the Steam platform is currently 97 percent (out of around 600 reviews).

“This is a very unique project and of course it’s not a simulator in the literal sense. The mix of genres includes a shooter, a sandbox game, and a renovator – all with a story and style that’s both grotesque and absurd. If you’re a fan of the quirky humor of games like Postal 2, you’ll love this title too,” says Ultimate Games SA COO Rafał Jelonek.
