Prison Architect: Undead expansion for Halloween

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Halloween can come: Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven announce the Undead expansion for Prison Architect.

Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven have announced Undead, the eighth and spookiest expansion for Prison Architect.

Undead introduces a new goal for players: Survival. Undead rise from the grave and can infect anyone they bite. Inmates and guards must work together to make it out alive. Prison Architect: Undead is coming to the land of the living on October 11th for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and is priced at €2.99 (RRP).

Check out the brand new Prison Architect: Undead announcement trailer below:

The undead are a relentless bunch and can quickly spread through prisons. Establishing a graveyard via quick build adds a spooky feel to the facility, but players should be prepared to deal with the undead hordes it spawns. If they are unable to effectively control the outbreak, the captives will become infected and the hordes will continue to grow.

Whether wardens enlist additional help from bounty hunters or use whatever weapon they have at their disposal, they should do whatever is necessary to keep prisoners alive. Undead also introduces an “Undead Overlay” option in Settings, allowing players to add another layer of darkness and excitement to the spooky content update.

“Just in time for spooky season, Undead Prison Architect adds a blend of survival and horror that will test the prison guards’ management skills,” said Gaz Wright, Game Director of Prison Architect at Double Eleven. “The fight for survival is not an easy task as it brings an extra layer of complexity and pressure to the management gameplay. We hope our community enjoys Undead as much as we enjoy making it!”

Prison Architect: Undead Key Features (also available in “Escape Mode”):

  • Welcome to the cemetery

Satisfying its occupants’ need for freedom and comfort, this brand new Quick-Room keeps them feeling calmer for 12 hours. However, be careful when adding tombstones as they can easily disturb this peaceful atmosphere…

Nobody is safe in Undead and there are many ways to get infected. One inmate can get sick, some others can be bitten by an unfriendly undead, or a bunch of infected inmates can be resurrected (aka spawn) right in the graveyard. Wardens have no power over infected units, they move and act independently within the prison until stopped. Inmates and guards can try to fight them off, but if they fail, they’ll join the deadly gang!

  • Who are you gonna call? bounty hunter!

When things get out of hand (and they will) and prison can’t stop the plague outbreak, players can call the Bounty Hunter Emergency Service: tough, trained bounty hunters will join their fight against the undead.

  • New traps, techniques and weapons

Extreme times call for extreme (and creative) measures. Players use undead bait to attract the undead, build a walled area, and imprison them inside. Or they steal the magnificent chainsaw they’ve had their eye on for a long time: everything goes to fend off the horde!

Along with the undead expansion The Kickstand released, a free update available to all players. This update brings a number of additions and improvements to the game. Two new dogs, Corgis and Siberian Huskies, add cuddly fun, and three Quick Rooms expand on the prisons: security, kennel, and probation. Also, cameras can now be locked and monitors can be made priority for guards. Thanks to community feedback, a new empty room has also been added that players can use to split prisons into different sectors without having to separate them with walls.
