RTX 4090: At least 82 percent faster in 3D Mark than RTX 3090
The first results of the Geforce RTX 4090 from various 3D Mark tests have been leaked. These are the most GPU-intensive tests that the benchmark can provide and the Geforce RTX 4090 outclasses both the Geforce RTX 3090 and the RTX 3090 Ti. On 10/12 Nvidia’s new flagship Geforce RTX 4090 should officially go on sale, while the first tests should go online the day before. The graphics card based on the AD102 has extremely impressive raw data, which, however, first has to be proven in practice. A whopping 16,384 CUDA cores are combined with 24 GiB of GDDR6X memory at 21 Gbps to keep Team Green’s performance crown. The first benchmarks for the Geforce RTX 4090 have now been leaked, showing strong performance.

The 3DMark tests Fire Strike Ultra, Time Spy Extreme and Port Royal were used, so that an accurate assessment based on the data seems possible. The first two tests are in 4K and are intended to make maximum use of the graphics card, while Port Royal generates a high load through the use of ray tracing. According to the benchmarks, the RTX 4090 achieves a standard graphic score of approx. 25,250 points in the 3D Mark Fire Strike Ultra. The average value for a Geforce RTX 3090 Ti is 14,005 points.
In the Time Spy Extreme, the flagship achieves 18,892 graphics points, while the RTX 3090 Ti “only” achieves around 10,700 points. A similar distance can also be observed in Port Royal, where the RTX 4090 with 24,886 graphics points is also significantly faster than the RTX 3090 Ti with 14,850 points. At the same time, the leaks also list an AIB model of an RTX 4090, which, depending on the benchmark, scores another 500 to 600 points more. If you relate the standard RTX 4090 to the RTX 3090, depending on the test, it achieves an additional performance of 82 to 104 percent and the RTX 3090 Ti is also completely outclassed.
Nevertheless, these benchmarks should be treated with caution, as they only show half the truth. Although they create the optimum level of comparability and are designed to permanently and fully utilize graphics cards, which is why manufacturers optimize for this, they do not necessarily correlate with real gaming. Therefore, before ordering, you should definitely wait for real, independent results from game tests to be sure that the Geforce RTX 4090 can also put its raw performance to good use in practice.
