Just two days ago we reported, among other things, that according to Valve’s own statements, it was possible to process the reservation queue for the Steam Deck after a year and that the handheld PC can now be “available in stock and can be purchased without delay”. In addition, there was a software update and an official docking station was also presented. On the occasion, Valve released an official trailer to summarize all the news. For particularly attentive viewers, however, the video offered a small surprise that Twitter users Nibel in a tweet captured by screenshot.

During the presentation of the revised offline mode, a special piece of software crept into the series of installed games on the display of the shown Steam Deck, which can no longer be found in the new trailer (see video under this news). The emulation software was there for a brief moment Yuzu to see, which makes it possible to play Nintendo Switch titles on Windows and Linux. Yuzu is a portable experimental open-source emulator programmed in C++ that seems to have fans among Valve employees as well. Although Valve reacted quickly and replaced the video with a new version, in which instead of Yuzu now portal 2 can be seen, the faux pas has already made its rounds on the internet.

The reactions to the “Upsi” are different in the relevant forums and social media. From enthusiastic users who now want to play Switch titles on their Steam Deck, to critical tones that accuse Valve of intent and borderline marketing, it’s pretty much all there. Of course, while the emulator allows for illegal use of Nintendo Switch software, any user is still free to legally purchase a Switch game, transfer the ROM to a PC, and play via the emulator. It remains to be seen whether and to what extent Valve has done any damage with this “carelessness” and whether and in what way Nintendo will react to it or not.
